Jesus, Our Immanuel
Track #4 on the CD Join The Chorus
The word Immanuel (or Emmanuel) reminds us that God was not content to merely sit in heaven and watch us
struggle and suffer our way through this mortal life; taking on the mantle of human flesh, He stepped into this
world to life the same life of suffering, grief and tribulation that we face.
And He promises to never leave us or forsake us. This is our Immanuel.
Jesus, Our Immanuel
Born into a world of tribulation,
Born into a life of poverty.
Angels sing his birth to the lowest of shepherds.
Wise men long to kneel humbly at his feet.
Jesus, our Immanuel,
God who took on flesh and dwelt among us.
Jesus, our Immanuel,
God who ever dwells with us.
Long before the manger and the stable,
Long before that bright and morning star,
Prophets spoke of light that would shine in the darkness:
Glory of the Lord veiled in human flesh.
Through all the ages and each generation
The prophets' words of promise still hold true.
The light that has come still turns us from darkness,
From hopeless despair to His kingdom of light
