Our Great Savior
Track #8 on the CD Join The Chorus
Often I find that there are very few words I can say that haven't been said already - and much better than I could say them - by someone else.
This is a wonderful hymn that I have written new music for, but have (mostly) left the words alone. The five verses and chorus give us such a wonderful picture of our savior, Jesus Christ.
Our Great Savior
Jesus! what a Friend for sinners! Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me, He, my Savior, makes me whole.
Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah! what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, He's forever loving;
He is always with me to the end.
Jesus! what a Strength in weakness! Let me hide myself in Him.
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing, He, my Strength, my victory wins.
Jesus! what a Help in sorrow! While the billows over me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking, He, my Comfort, helps my soul.
Jesus! what a Guide and Keeper! While the tempest still is high,
Storms about me, night overtakes me, He, my Pilot, hears my cry.
Jesus! I do now receive Him, More than all in Him I find.
He has granted me forgiveness, I am His, and He is mine.

The Only Thing
Ecclesiastes tells us it is better to go to a funeral than a party, because we all end up dead, and those who come to grips with this reality are better prepared for life.
